The snowdrops have been in full swing this month, and a visit to our magical woodland is the best antidote to the depressing state of the world. The girls and I spent a blissful, sunny hour among the flowers without seeing a soul. Just birdsong, butterflies and bees… I can’t help but envy them. Imagine how nice it must be not to know about corrupt politicians pushing for war. Imagine to just go about your own humble business not worrying about what tomorrow brings. Es ist Schneeglöckchenzeit, und ein Besuch im Zauberwald ist das beste Mittel gegen den deprimierenden Zustand in unserer Welt. Die Mädels und ich haben eine wunderbare, sonnige Stunde inmitten der Blumen verbracht, ohne eine Menschenseele zu sehen. Es gab nur Vogelgezwitscher und herumflatternde Schmetterlinge und Bienen. Wie ich sie beneide! Es muss herrlich sein, wenn man nichts von korrupten Politikern und Kriegstreibern weiss. Wie schön, wenn man seinem bescheidenen Tagwerk nachgeht und sich keine Sorgen darüber machen muss, was der nächste Tag bringt. The woods look magical. I never understood the enormous appeal of snowdrops until I saw the woods. Hugs to the dogs, I love the photo.
The girls say thanks for the hugs 😁 I find all big flower carpets stunning but snowdrops are more special as they flower at such a bleak time of year giving us all hope in a way.
I think the snowdrops are special too.

Thank you, Donna, spring is definitely in the air but after that sunny interlude we’re currently experiencing a rather wintery spell again. No harm, I’m quite enjoying hibernation.

Liebe Claudia, schön von dir zu hören. Die grösste Herausforderung bei all dem Wahnsinn ist es, nicht selbst den Verstand zu verlieren. Die schwedische Kirche hat ja zugesichert, dass sie auf dem Friedhof Platz für 5% der Bevölkerung machen – echt ein Trost! Oder eher, sind die eigentlich noch bei Trost😜. Your snowdrop wood looks as beautiful as ever Annette 😍 It must be so hard to tear yourself away! ‚The Secret Garden‘ was one of my favourite childhood books. I treated myself to a copy a couple of years ago or so which is beautifully illustrated by Inga Moore. I always watch the film whenever it is on television 😂
It is a lovely book indeed and I also enjoyed the film. Must look up the Inga Moore version. Currently I’m reading ‚Wilding‘ by Isabella Tree, very inspiring!

I only get around to answering today and tomorrow is already Monday again! Yes, the wild flowers definitely cheer me up. Do you have woods filled with snowdrops nearby? Or wild garlic? I think I’ll die long before ours make any decent carpets.
I am trying to get wild garlic established here, but it clearly doesn’t like our woodland. Too many evergreens. I haven’t seen any snowdrops near us either. One day we might thin out a bit of our woods to make space for some deciduous trees to grow.
