Wild and wonderful / Wild und wunderbar

Last weekend we had a rendezvous with a rather elusive creature: ’sabot de Vénus‘ or lady’s slipper orchid (Cypripedium calceolus), a species which is critically endangered and very hard to find. Not far from the Col de Pourtalet in the Pyrenees you can see them in the company of a Spanish guide. Our meeting was dramatically brought to an end by a hailstorm but I still managed to take some pics. This area is part of a National Park and full of magical spring flowers. We spent a couple of hours exploring the varied flora in a delightful landscape which feels more like a botanical garden. I just had to share this with you 🙂 . Letztes Wochenende hatten wir ein Rendezvous mit einem äusserst scheuen Wesen: dem ’sabot de Vénus‘ oder Gelben Frauenschuh (Cypripedium calceolus), einer gefährdeten und streng geschützten Art, die man selten findet. Nicht weit vom Col de Pourtalet in den Pyrenäen kann man sie jedoch in Begleitung eines spanischen Guides bewundern. Unsere Begegnung wurde dramatisch von einem Gewitter mit Hagel beendet, aber ich konnte dennoch einige Bilder machen. Die Gegend ist Teil eines Nationalparks und voller magischer Frühlingsblumen. Wir erforschten einige Stunden lang die vielseitige Flora in einer Landschaft, die mehr wie ein botanischer Garten anmutet. Ich musste das unbedingt mit euch teilen 🙂 . Mal schauen, ob ihr einige der Blumen erkennt…
