Autumn seems to have come early this year. September was more like November but October has turned out nice so far, so here’s hoping as I’m not yet ready for hibernation! I’m happy to join Cathy’s IAVOAM today after a little break. I was both extremely busy and down over the past few weeks and we all miss our head gardener badly but the new gardener is full of fun and cheering us up! My vase features an unkown Aster novi-angliae (now: Symphyotrichum) which was already here when we came. It’s very vigorous and covered in lilac flowers from September onwards. It sits in poor soil and never gets watered. A truly stunning plant and much beloved by insects. The vine is starting to turn scarlet on the house wall and is adding a cheeky splash of colour. Don’t forget to pop over to our host Cathy to admire the vases of my fellow bloggers which are usually so much more artistic than mine. Wishing you all happy, golden autumn days 🙂
What a romantic sunspace you have, Annette – tea and tranquility!
It’s a great place indeed, Eliza, and very secluded so it’s like being on another planet really
Perfect!
Hi Annette. Your asters are lovely and photos all are wonderful. The sweet little bird is delightful.
Thanks, Susie, I’ve got a couple of them as a friend used to attach them to presents, a lovely idea
Awww, your lovely pics do cheer me up after a long day with (somewhat stupid) computer work. 🙂
Glad they did, dear Doris, just realized that I don’t know anything about your work?
Hi Annette,
Sorry about my late response, had too much going on during the last 2 weeks. I am technical writer. I write and edit user manuals in medical engineering, do translation management, that type of thing. Which is usually quite interesting, but I had been staring at identical changes in English, US and Canadian user manuals all day when I saw your charming pictures. 😉 Thanks again!
Best, Doris
Must be interesting but tiring too to sit in front of the screen all day. I should think you need lots of activity and creativity to make up for that. That’s where your dog comes in…hope you’re both well and enjoy plenty of fine autumn walks. 🙂
Oh yes, we’re doing well and spent some lovely autumn outdoor time today, despite the cold wind. There is no bad weather when you’re a dog owner. 😉
Thank you for sharing some of your favourite autumn things with us, Annette; your photos are always a real treat. Best wishes to you and Monsieur and the new gardener
YOu’re so kind, thank you, Cathy, as always your meme has cheered me up xx
Glad you are at least a little cheered, Annette, and that the meme brings you pleasure
Your photos are gorgeous once again Annette! And those asters….. beautiful! I hope your head gardener is settling into her role well and helping cheer you up. 🙂
Oh, thank you, Cathy 🙂 yes, she is doing well but misses her ‚aunt‘, they loved each other
It’s a very pretty aster, Annette, and suits your lovely sun room beautifully. I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your head gardener. I hope the new gardener, who looks very alert, lives up to the standard of her predecessor.
Thank you, Kris, she’s very special like they all were and makes us happy. The pavillon is a fab place especially in autumn and winter.
Your sun room is really tempting; are you able to use it in summer or is it too hot? Your images as always are a joy.
Thanks a lot, Christina, it’s in a shady bit of the garden and can be used all year but we used it more now and sometimes have an apéritif there in the evening. In winter it’s a glorious spot as it gets the sun in the afternoon.
Sorry to hear about your dog 😦
Great photo’s.
Wonderful combination with the ex-asters and the red leaves. Sometimes we forget that foliage can be just as beautiful as flowers! And your little summer house is divine.
Hi Helen, thanks for stopping by. It is a great place indeed, ideal to forget about the world. And you’re right, foliage is so important.
Hello dear Annette .. beautiful images my friend. I just love your vase and delicate asters 😄 .. Wish I was there with you now .. hugs
And I wish you’d be able to come over to share it with my, dear Julie, love to you both xx
Beautiful autumnal photos Annette. Is that tea in the cup? The new gardener looks as if she is settling well into her role. I hope that autumn is treating you, the Monsieur and your garden kindly.
Thank you, Anna, she is indeed. It’s tea alright and has somewhat taken on the colour of the foliage: Happy autumn to you too x
These are such gorgeous pictures, Annette. And I love your sunroom too.
Thanks for visiting, Cynthia, always a pleasure to see you here. Happy autumn days 🙂
And to you, dear Annette!
Such beautiful pictures!
