Hi, how nice to see you! I’m delighted that you accepted my spontaneous invitation. This wonderful weather -it’s really more like summer!- is so tempting…I could stay in the garden all day. Pompeii gets this gorgeous low autumn sun at this time of the year…come along then, everything’s ready!
Ah, you’ve spotted the Nerine – guess it’s impossible not to notice them! They’re such a sight in autumn.
Look, how the leaves of Stachyurus praecox turn yellow and red! All the flower buds…I’m already dreaming of spring.
Da drüben ist ein Zitronenfalter! Look a brimstone butterfly!
I’ve since continued to plant in Pompeii…one day there’ll be a big wave of Persicaria and Muhlenbergia capillaris. I also added cranesbill, fern and lots of bulbs. The multi-stemmed lime tree is very beautiful – I removed all the lower branches and think the stems look so much better now.
Yes, Hydrangea paniculata „Sundae Fraise“ has come on nicely.
You know Pompeii has really become one of my favourite spots in the garden. It’s somehow away from it all and has its own, very special atmosphere that lets you leave the world behind. The lounger is the perfect place to dream, watch the birds and squirrels in the lime tree or in the oaks…pure bliss!
Endlich! Tee und Brombeermuffins…lecker 🙂
Hmmm, tea and blackberry muffins…yummie 🙂
Mach’s gut!
That was such a pleasant afternoon. Sure you can have the receipe. It’s quick and ideal for such an occasion. It was good to see you and philosophize about life, plants and gardens. We must get together again soon. Take care!
Brombeermuffins
Man braucht:
125g Margarine
100g Zucker
1 Tüte Vanillezucker
1 Prise Salz
2 Eier
250g Mehl
1/2 Tüte Backpulver
3 EL kalter Schwarztee
2 EL Rum (Strohrum)
200g Brombeeren
Blackberry muffins
You’ll need:
125g margarine
100g sugar
1 sachet vanilla sugar
1 pinch of salt
2 eggs
250g white flour
1/2 sachet baking powder
3 tablespoons cold black tea
2 tablespoons rum
200g blackberries
That’s how to do it: Mix margarine, sugar and salt until fluffy. Add eggs. Mix flour and baking powder and add with tea and rum to the mixture. Gently fold in blackberries. Fill into muffin tray and bake for 15-20 min. at 200°C in a preheated oven.
So schöööön…immer wieder.
Thanks for the tea and delicious muffin Annette. 😉 I enjoyed the tour of Pompeii and sitting looking at all your lovely flowers and foliage. The hydrangea is especially pretty. Hope you get a bit more lovely autumn sunshine… it’s starting to cool down a bit here this week.
Up to now it has been so warm, we make the most of it. Hope you try the muffins, it’s worth it, Cathy
We too look set for cooler (read ‚chillier‘) days after spells of sunshine last week. I really enjoyed your chatty and welcoming post, Annette, and the muffins. So glad that Pompeii is meeting your expectations….
Hi Cathy, it really is so special but hard to convey through a blog post. Bet you’ll enjoy your sitooterie more from now on.
Thanks for the invitation – it was a pleasure to join you Annette.
Loving the persicaria and Muhlenbergia, what a sight that’s going to be in future years. Persicaria is one of my favourite plants in the garden as it gives interest for months.
Our weather has turned today and has been decidedly cold today. Long may your weather be to your suiting, which will of course mean you have to spend more time in Pompeii – what a bother that will be…..not! 🙂
Hi Angie, think it’ll already be nice next year as Persicaria grows so fast – always admire it in your garden.
I enjoyed your tour Annette. The glass sided summerhouse is beautiful, it must be wonderful to be able to see the view all around, and what a fab place to have afternoon tea.
it is and all the work of my husband so we both enjoy it a lot
Hey Annette .. gorgeous! Your Pompeii place is so special. Sigh … As for the tea and muffins. Yum! Wish I lived closer I’d pop on over 🙂 Thanks for the recipe – love the idea of the black tea.
the black tea makes them so tasty and moist, worth a try, Julie 🙂
Your garden area around Pompeii is absolutely beautiful, I love the way the red grasses catch the autumn light!
so do I, Matt!
I so enjoyed the virtual tour, Annette. I wish it could have been real so that I could see everything and taste your lovely muffins.
I love the effect of the Muhlenbergia with the Persicaria, it is dreamy, I might just copy that next year.
maybe some day it will be real, who knows 😉
I can see why your Pompei garden is a favorite. I love the low stone walls, the Persicaria and Muhlenbergia.
You’re a lovely hostess and gardener Annette. It was fun to visit your Pompeii.
glad you came along, Susie 🙂
wie schön- ich liiiiebe Knöteriche und Brombeermufiins
Freue mich über deinen Besuch, liebe Monika 🙂
Wund.Der.Schön ❤
❤
Haha, I may be a little late but the tea and muffins were exceptional 🙂
Pompeii is looking wonderful! You are lucky to live so far away. Were you closer there could likely be uncomfortable moments when you find me napping in the gazebo hours after you thought I had already left! I’m glad you’re enjoying the area now. I’m a bit envious of those fantastic stones!
Yes, one could really say we’re stone-rich, haha, no joking aside, the stones are wonderful and will be put to good use 😉
Oh thanks for your kind invitation Annette. Hope that I’m not too late to partake. Tea in Pompeii sounds like paradise, even if all those yummy looking muffins have already been eaten.
Always welcome, Anna 🙂
Thanks for the tour. Reading the comments above it is clear to see that we would all be over for some of that tea and muffins. I especially love your jars of dried seed heads, looks like a magazine shoot.
And wouldn’t it be nice too to meet up and chat in the garden, Dorris. Maybe I should organize a blogger fling? Thank you for the compliment 🙂
Liebe Anette, ich grüße dich, Klaus
I can see why Pompeii is such a treasured spot. It is looking so good. The muffins look so good, I think I will try out the recipe. Thanks, Annette.
So good to hear from you, Donna! Hope you’re feeling better 🙂
Yes – and if we all really came you might have to make a few more muffins! Glad I stopped by tonight to be reminded of the lovely October weather. Pompeii really does look like just the right spot for tea and muffins – love your planting and have never seen a multi-stemmed lime! What an interesting idea.
Lovely to see you too, Cathy! Don’t know how this multi-stemmed lime tree came about. Guess they cut it down at some stage and it then sent up several stems.
